Coffee, a brewed drink made from roasted coffee beans, the seeds of berries of certain coffea species, is one of the most popular drinks worldwide. It can be prepared and presented in a variety of ways, expresso, French press, Caffe latte! And is usually served hot, but is also great iced or blended.

An early Ethiopian legend states that a goat herder, Kaldi, discovered coffee when he noticed that after eating certain berries from a certain tree that his goats became so energetic that they did not sleep all night! By the 15th century coffee trade, cultivation and consumption had begun in Southern Arabia.  By the 16th century, coffee had expanded into Persia, Egypt, Syria, and Turkey. In 1773 Thomas Jefferson is credited with saying, “Coffee- the favorite drink of the civilized world”

Due to its caffeine content, coffee is known to have a stimulating effect on humans, which makes it the perfect go-to drink for breakfast or that mid-morning “coffee break”.  Did you know that the coffee break originated in the late 19th century in Stoughton, Wisconsin, with the wives of Norwegian immigrants?
