The Custer Area Veterans' Memorial Association is the creation of a memorial honoring all veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States of America and any sponsor wishing to honor them regardless of residency. Memorial will be located south of the intersection of 5th and Washington Street.

There will be an American, South Dakota and POW flags, along with triangle-shaped mounds of earth covered with concrete and framed with veterans’ bricks. The bricks will have a veteran’s name, rank, branch and dates of service or conflict/war served in. These bricks can be ordered at www.polarengraving.com/CusterVeteransMemorial at a cost of $50, or purchased from any Memorial Association member with checks payable to Custer Veterans' Memorial and mailed or dropped off at Custer City Hall. There are also Sponsorship bricks that can be purchased at the following levels: Bronze - minimum of $100, Silver - minimum of $250, Gold - minimum of $500, and Platinum - minimum of $1000.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Dakota is a non-profit organization that supports programs to improve the health and well-being of children.
